Royal Condolences for Peter Morris, Beloved Father and Pizza Entrepreneur

Peter Morris, a devoted father of two and an inspiring entrepreneur, tragically passed away from cancer at the age of 47 in May. His passing occurred shortly after his wife, Kate, received her own cancer diagnosis.

Prince William, writing on official Kensington Palace notepaper, extended his heartfelt condolences to Peter’s wife, Tracey. In his letter, which was read after Peter’s death, Prince William expressed:

“I can’t even begin to imagine what a huge hole he will leave in your life. My heart goes out to you and your family.”

The letter continued with warm reflections:

“Catherine and I had a great time meeting Pete. We know Pete was a very dedicated and well-liked member of the community because of how people have responded to his death. I wanted you to know that you and your family are in our thoughts during this difficult time.”

Peter, who hailed from Ebbw Vale in South Wales, operated a thriving pizza business from a converted VW van. Last year, he had the honor of serving pizzas to the Prince and Princess of Wales during their visit to Dowlais Rugby Club in Merthyr Tydfil. For £127.50, the royal couple treated the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team to an assortment of pizzas, including margarita, pepperoni, BBQ chicken, and goat cheese.

Recalling the memorable encounter, Peter shared at the time, “They were really nice. When I started this business, I never imagined I’d one day serve the future king and queen.”

Despite having previously overcome esophageal cancer, Peter’s illness tragically returned, spreading to his adrenal gland and liver. He passed away less than a year after his diagnosis. However, his legacy lives on through his family and business.

Prince William’s letter will be framed as a keepsake for Peter’s daughters, aged eight and five. Reflecting on the touching gesture, Tracey, 40, shared with The Sun, “It was a huge surprise. I have no idea how they found out about Pete’s passing. It may have resonated with them because of Kate’s own health challenges. The letter was truly beautiful.”
